Review a decision you made

In shortCome back on the review dates, compare your predictions with what happened, check your tripwires, and keep watching or resolve the decision.

FrameAlternativesConditionsPremortemHearingCommitmentExecutionReviewDashed: big bet only

A committed decision comes back to you on its review dates. They are the dates of your predictions, plus the date you set to look again at a smaller first step.

Hold a review

Open the decision's Review, near the top of its sections. A red dot there means a review is due; a line at the top says what is left.

The review is one scorecard, each part with a chip saying what is left:

  • Compare each sealed prediction with what you observe now. One that has not happened yet counts as a miss; you can settle it and bet again on a later date.
  • Mark each still clear, or fired. Every tripwire is checked at every review.
  • Give the verdict. Did the reasoning hold up given what you knew then, did it work out and get done, were the pace and effort right, would you start it today? What you were watching opens under "Did it work out?", and the plan as committed under "Did it get done?".
  • Write the lesson in one line, with the warnings you set aside beside it.

Past and your forecast score sit at the foot.

Finish the review

The bar under the scorecard shows what this sitting will record.

  • Save and keep watching. The decision stays live until its next review date.
  • A sitting that gives the verdict stamps the decision, beside the due line, in its title card and in Decided.
  • Or resolve the decision once every prediction is settled, the first three questions are answered and you confirm you judged the call and the outcome apart.
  • Other ways out, in the same bar, retires the decision or opens a new one that supersedes it.

Editors can publish what a review taught in an updated brief.

What a sitting is

Each review you save is a , kept with its date, its checks and any verdict. You hold one on each review date or any day between; a new verdict never erases an earlier one.

See your decisions over time

  • Activity shows what you decided, day by day, on a calendar.
  • Learning looks back across closed decisions as seven questions, from whether your calls held up to what your reviews taught (how it works).
