Give a decision its area

In shortEvery decision has one area, such as Pricing or People and organization, suggested when you start it and changed in one click.

Every decision has one area: what it is mainly about. It sits on the title card, beside the , so anyone opening the decision sees at once what kind of call it is. In the decision inbox, each row shows it after the folder, and the filter and the search find decisions by area.

Where the area comes from

When you start a decision, Midfire reads what you typed and suggests an area along with the title and the type. It is a suggestion. If it reads your decision differently from the way you do, change it.

Decisions made before areas existed show the area as not set until someone chooses one.

Change the area

  1. Select the area on the title card.
  2. Choose another one. Each area in the list says what it covers.

Anyone who can edit the decision can change its area, on a draft and after it is committed. Each change is recorded in Status & activity.

Read your record by area

On Learning, filter by area beside the type, or open the areas question: how many resolved decisions each area holds, how many held up and how many worked out. Select an area there to read every question for it alone. An area is read once it holds 3 resolved decisions.

The areas

  • Strategy & markets
  • Product
  • Pricing
  • Sales & marketing
  • Customers & partners
  • People & organization
  • Capital & budget
  • Operations & suppliers
  • Technology
  • Legal & risk
  • Other
what the area changes

Nothing about how the decision is made. The area never changes what Midfire drafts, asks or scores. It describes the decision, so you can find it later and see how decisions of the same kind turned out.
