A decision starts from your decisions with New decision. The pane on the right asks for two things, and the rest of the process builds on them.
Write the decision
- Under Decision, state it in one sentence, the way you would say it to your team. Then add any context that helps, up to 1,200 characters: what prompted it, a constraint, a deadline. Midfire keeps it word for word, the read it, and Show initial input beside the title opens it later.
- Under "What is the decision optimizing for?", name what matters most, for example protecting margin even at slower growth.
- Select Start decision process.
Confirm the type
Midfire reads your sentence and suggests a decision type from two questions you can change:
- How costly if wrong?
- How hard to reverse?
A decision that is damaging or hard to reverse is suggested as a ; the others as everyday. You can also pick the type yourself. Then select Continue to the Frame. For a big bet, Midfire first drafts the frame, which usually takes 10 to 20 seconds.
Work on the record
From here the decision lives on its own page, with its sections listed on the left in three groups: Status & activity, People and Review at the top (Review opens once the decision is locked), then the steps of the process under its quality score, then Decision settings. The steps start with these:
- In Frame, you say what the decision is for and why now.
- In Alternatives, you list the paths you are choosing between, the status quo included.
- In Conditions, select Generate conditions and Midfire drafts what must be true and what must not fail, for every path.
Once conditions exist, you can share the decision and ask your colleagues for their view. Each section shows its next step when you reach it.
